Kennel, Mae Etta Hershberger, 81, of Albany, Linn Co., OR died April 10, 2009 at the identical place from cancer. Hindsley, April 2, 1933-February 8, 2022, 88, of Walkerton, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at Miller's Health and Rehab in La Porte, IN. On October 17, 1953, in La Porte, IN., Darlene married Robert Devon HIndsley, who preceded her in dying June 13, 2017. She was also preceded in loss of life by her nice-grandson, Oakley. (Kathy) Hindsley of La Porte; two brothers, Alfred Schoof, Jr. of Houston, TX, Julius "Ink" (Phyllis) Schoof of Fish Lake, IN; two sisters, Dorothy Kramer of La Porte, IN, Janice Hadella of La Porte, IN; five grandchildren, Nick (Melissa) Hindsley, Mandy (Tony) Martin, Blake (Mandy) Hindsley, Brad Hindsley, Kjia (Craig) Woodcox; eight great-grandchildren, Gavin, Tucker, Ryker, Veralynn, Cade, Kennedy, Kehlin, Ayden and several nieces and nephews.

Surviving are kids, Rick (Ruth) Kauffman, Gayle (Ron) Kohlmeyer, Darwin (Susie) Kauffman, Sonja (Mark) Neal, 10 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, siblings, Ida Mae (Dan) Lehman, Lovina (Mel) Miller, Pauline (Erie) Schrock, Mary Alice Yoder, Omer (Louella) Herschberger, Perry (Annabelle) Herschberger, and her stepmother, Lydia Herschberger. Survivors include three daughters, Bertha Lorene Chupp and husband Elva M. of Arthur, Lucy Ellen Bontrager and husband Marvin of Kokomo, Indiana, and Betty Louise Herschberger and husband Eli of Arthur; a daughter-in-regulation, Emma (Lengacher) Kauffman of Sarasota, Florida; two sisters, Mattie Schlabach of Arthur and Bertha Gingerich of Arcola; two sisters in-law, Alta Yoder and husband Melvin of Roodhouse and Clara Yoder and husband Noah of Arthur; 15 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Kauffman was preceded in loss of life by her husband; a son, Kenneth; a stillborn great-grandson; 4 brothers; and 4 sisters.


A son, Michael Kauffman and two grandsons, Matthew and Malachi Kauffman preceded her in dying. Survivors embody his spouse, Emma (Lengacher) Kauffman; a son, Clint Kauffman and spouse Janelle of Hartville, Ohio; two daughters, Christie Nisly and husband Quinton and Charla Weaver and husband Terry, all of Sarasota; his mother, Lovina (Yoder) of Arthur; three sisters, Bertha Chupp and husband Elva of Arthur, Lucy Bontrager and husband Marvin of Kokomo, Indiana, and Betty Herschberger and husband Eli of Arthur; and four grandchildren, Kendall, Katelyn, Emilee, and Carissa. 12 stepchildren, eight grandchildren, 26 step-grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, 11 step-great-grandchildren, two brothers, Dan (Elaine) Kauffman; and Walt (Norma) Kauffman; and two sisters, Grace Nachtigall, and Edith Piper. Memorial providers have been held February 28, 2009 at First Mennonite Church, Middlebury, IN with burial in Grace Lawn Cemetery, Middlebury, IN. Memorial providers have been held November 1, 2009 at Mishler-Eastlund Funeral Home Milford IN with burial in New Paris Cemetery, New Paris, Elkhart Co., IN. Burial was in Otto Cemetery. Burial will likely be in the adjoining church cemetery.
